All right, everyone, we've been planning this for ages, and now we have to face up to it: SwanCon 2005.
Who's still up for it? Who simply will not be able to make it? Who's going to have a lot of trouble? I chatted with Zar and Syl about it when I went to see them - admittedly in January, so situations may have changed, hence this post], and we three are still up for it, and money-wise will have the least problem making it to/staying in Van.
How about the rest of you? We've got about a year. I don't remember if there were official dates - all I remember was something along the lines of May or June. Sam? Twi? Even if any Swan cannot make it, PLEASE say something, I don't want to have someone miss out.
If anyone wants to come but feels that there will be financial issues [as opposed to time issues], please say so - I'm going to do everything I can to get as many of us up here, if the desire is still there. Let's get numbers now, and start planning out money ASAP. This way, we all have a year to save and plan, and get this off the ground. I would absolutely love to meet you all. Current Mood: ambitious

we should plan a(nother) chat-in. when/where?
|Wednesday, December 25th, 2002|
We ought to have a chat-in. Possibly for New Years Eve, unless everyone else has lives. Current Mood: contemplative

Anyone up for a swanchat sometime soon, if we can coordinate a time when most people are around?

Just went to swangsons
(by accident, long story), and figured hey, i'll click the "request price" thing and see what they want.
The minimum quoted price will be be at least $688, and could be as much as $10,000.
Fuck you, you fuckers!

<-- endlessly amused after a google search for 'swansongs.net'
-- memories! Random people (to me, anyway) naming swansongs their favourite site! I'm all impressed.
Anyway, the reason I'm posting
. Leads to the question, are
we resurrecting it? Any time soon? Do we really still want to? Because it'd be nice having some sort of homebase back, but most of us have our own domains now, and ... um, is any of you actually still willing to invest time and money in ss? And what would we put there, save for a link list?
Just ... wondering, I guess. Anyone?

At some point in our lives, we need to put together an anthology/collection of our shorter work (poems, short stories, prose-poems, random paragraphs, etc) and self-publish it. Just because. Current Mood: contemplative

I was thinking, maybe if I ask addr about swansongs.net, I could get a decent price. I am, after all, not a "known affiliate" of swansongs (I can do this through my werkers.net email addy, and no one would be the wiser), and who knows.
Should I look into it?
(Edit: This could be instead of the .cc address, or in addition to, or whatever. Just sayin'.)
Current Mood: curious

Added some new people to the swansongs community, added a user icon, and deleted one of the entries when Cam double-posted a long time ago. I am a sucky moderator, aren't I?
Anyway, I'm all for swansongs.cc to be put into action, personally. Current Mood: pleased
|Friday, March 8th, 2002|
your attention, please
I can get a swansongs.cc
along with a suitable webhost for $15 (a year). (Don't ask me how. It's all webhost manipulating and smooching off parents' business.)
Think that's close enough? Because god knows how much addr will want for the .net address.
Please let me know either way. Current Mood: hopeful

Not liking this: http://www.swansongs.net
(redirects to addr.com)
Which makes me wonder, if we were to buy it back, how much would we have to pay?

I hope beyond hope that everything will turn out OK. I'm not sure of the details as to what happened (haven't been on LJ nearly enough lately), but I just want to say that I am very proud to call you my friends and people I hold dear.

Apparently my swansongs.net e-mail address has stopped working. This may be because I haven't been able to check it for the last month or so, and it's had so much mail that it can't take any more, but I wouldn't have thought so, since it's only a forwarding thang. Does anyone else have this problem?
Belatedly to Liz's post re: resurrecting swansongs. I have no cash whatsoever and it seems it would mainly be a resurrection of convenience (i.e. getting all our files off it). But it would be nice.

Okay, forget all I said earlier, my mail appears to be working again.
But the offer still stands.
Old message follows:
Is Swansongs down for good, now? It's just that my POP account has stopped working. (Yes, I should have got a new e-mail from somewhere. Hush.)
Oh, and it's moved from 403 errors to "not found" errors.
Since I do have a sort of job now I could probably rustle up USA$50 or so... (The exchange rate is so terrible.)
